CONTROL OF EXPENDITURE.

POWERS OF PARLIAMENT. SUBJECT UNDER CONSIDERATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. Although consideration has been given to the question of extending Parliamentary control over expenditure now made under statutory authority, it is premature fo say that the Government has reached any decisiou on the matter, much' less than it has determined which items of the permanent appropriations should be transferred to the annual appropriations.

According to official information, this question has been under consideration by Cabinet 011 several occasions during tlia last two or three years, and it was also submitted to the Economy Committee lasi year. The matter is still being discussed, but it is quite incorrect to say that anjr definite decision has been reached.
