KIA TAMA TANE.
. Sir, —In this, my final contribution toward this little controversy, I would assure 'Thikcmbia" that the adverse critics are not conscious "of having overlooked anything, certainly not the fact that a Jot has been written in support of an adage—although it—the adage—has not been criticised; There is a vast difference between "Kia Tamatane"' and "Kia tarna tane." and it was the publication of the latter senseless phrase or. November 27 which gave rise to the ad'ver'se comments. It is noticeable tha.t all the writers in support ignore this undoubted fact. If as a result ot this correspondence the school authorities consider the motto in its better form, with its wealth of meaning and association of ideas, having at the same time a clear realisation of the possibility of misconception. then the criticism will have attained its desired end, and may claim to have been constructive in the truest sense.
