LOSS OF THE KOTITI.
REQUEST FOR INQUIRY. RESOLUTION BY SEAMEN. [BY TEr.EGR.VPjr.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] WELLINGTON, Saturday. Tho loss of tho steamer Ivotiti off tho west coast of the Soutli Island in October, was discussed at a meeting of tho Federated Seamen's Union this week, attended by over 300 members, and the following rosolution was passed : "This meeting considers the signed statement of W. Mclntyro and J. Gosse that the Kotiti had engine trouble and was leaking on her last voyage from Wellington to Wcstport furthor justifies the claim of tho union in requesting the Ministor of Marine to hold an inquiry into the loss. In the interest of tho relatives of tho men who lost their lives in the wreck, and tho taking of precautionary measures against further needless loss of life at sea, we again appeal to the Ministor of Marine to hold an inquiry into tho loss of tho vessel. The men referred to worked their passage from Wellington to Westport on tho vessel's last voyage to Westport and then left the ship."
