GENERAL IMPROVEMENT. INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC PASSES. With the coming of finer weather there has been a general improvement in the health' of the people of the Auckland Province, and the epidemic of influenza ■which occurred in August and September has disappeared, there being only a few isolated case in various parts of the district. / Whooping cough has been prevalent recently, but the cases have generally been of a mild natvffe. There were only two cases of pneumonic influenza reported in the four health districts? in the Auckland Province in November, according to figures supplied by the Department of Health. In October there were .12 cases, while in September 27 were reported. Of the 116 cases of notifiable diseases in the four health areas last month 41 were of diphtheria, 29 of tuberculosis, 12 of food poisoning and four of scarlet fever. In October there were 131 case.'s, including 34 of diphtheria and 33 of tuberculosis. The returns for the past month chow a decrease of 15 in the total number of cases of infectious diseases compared with those for the previous month. In the Auckland central distiict there were 54 cases, including 19 of tuberculosis, 14 of diphtheria, eight of puerperal fever, four each of pneumonia and food poisoning, and three of scarlet fever. The total in October was 61 cases. There were 24 cases of infectious diseases reported in the North Auckland district last month, against 13 during October. These included eight of food poisoning, four each of diphtheria and tuberculosis, three of puerperal fever and one each of meningitis and pneumonia. . Twenty 'cases of diphtheria were reported in the South Auckland district, where there were also four cases of tuberculosis, two of enteric fever and one each of scarlet fever, pneumonic influenza and pneumonia. The total was 32 cases, against 43 cases in October. The returns for the Thames-Tauranga •rea show three cases of diphtheria, two of tuberculosis and one of pneumonic influenza, a total of six cases, compared with 14 in the previous month,
