'1 he attitude adopted by the Waihi Borough Council in refusing to reduce salaries and wages of the staff by 10 per cent., in accordance'with tho recent general order of the Arbitration Court, was questioned at a meeting of tho Katepayers' Association last night, but a resolution urging the council to make the reduction was defeated by a large majority. K A motion asking the council, to adopt a more vigorous policy in the matter of putting the defective gasworks service in order and thus save several hundreds of pounds a year was carried.
