TECHNICAL BOARD'S OFFER. Exception to statements made by Mr. J. Patterson at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board with regard to an offer of 30 American typewriters bv the board of managers of tho Scddon Memorial Technical College is taken by tlio principal of tho college, Mr. G. <l. Park. Mr. Patterson asked why the machines, if they were not good enough for (he college, should be forced upon district high schools. Mr. Park, in a report to his board, stated the typewriters were in good working condition. It was his policy to keep typewriters not more than five or six years, so as to obtain a high re-sale value. He had been prepared to replace the machines with new ones of a similar make, but his board had decided to give preference to British manufacturers. The report was adopted.
