TRADE TO MANCHESTER.
NEED OF DIRECT SHIPMENTS.
BUTTER, CHEESE AND HONEY.
LONDON. Sept. 1.
There is considerable discussion in Manchester on the necessity for increased shipments of butter, cheese and honey from Australia and New Zealand. The distributors emphasise tho wastefulness of transhipment from London, which costs £40,000 a year. They point out th®t if there were direct and regular deliveries tho Manchester' area could easily take <foo tons of butter and 2000 crutes of checso a week.
Canada is the only Dominion which at present is seising the opportunity.
