CALCUTTA. Sept. 1.

There was a reign of terror at Chittagong when the mobs of thousands of Moslems, infuriated at the assassination of the police inspector Ashanullah, a Moslem, looted Hindu jewellers', tailors, and ricesellers' shops, after which they set tho buildings on fire. Tho damage is estimated at £BOO,OOO. The polico were busy all day saving Hindus from the fury of the mobs. Armed police are now patrolling the streets. Many persons were injured, including a Hipdu senior deputy magistrate, who was stoned. *
