NEW YORK. Sept. 1,
police have revealed details of a sensational kidnapping plot. An attractive young Octoroon, posing as a white girl, lured into' the hands of her five male companions Mr Charles Rosenthal, a wealthy young bachelor broker, and a member of a socially prominent family. The gang threatened to kill him if a Tansom of £20,000 was not paid. Then they reduced the sum to £IO,OOO, which the broker's mother provided. ■ ow it is revealed that th& reduction followed Rosenthal's winning half the required amount in dice games with his captors while he was awaiting release. The police apprehended the group when their leader attempted to escape from the others with the ransom, and they had prepared to murder their leader for ' double-crossing" them.
