THE SOVIET THREAT.
Sir, —Mi, Bloodworth is of the opinion that, if Russia is challenging the world by its five-year plan, it is no answer to show that the plan involves brutality, but that it is for those countries which are challenged ta sJiow the world tluit their systems can produce better results. A great deal depends on what Mr. 1 Bloodworth and his Communistic friends think aro "better results." The capitalistic, that is, tha civilised countries, condemn slavery or brutality in producing results, but Russia adopts both, and henca tlio products of a country employing such means to increase its production should bo barred by thosa more enlightened countries that forbid such inhuman measures as Russia employs. Mr. Bloodworth reiterates that ha asked a question, and nouo has supplied tha answer, and suggests that the Welfare League should take it up. Now, why should the Welfare Leaguo or Mr. Thornes supply tho answers to Mr. Bloodworth's wondorings ? Why does ke not state what would have been the result, in his opinion, of the payment by Russia of tho debts she owes had she paid thosb debts in Russian products? He will be quite safe in making any deductions as to what would happen if Russia paid her international debts, either in t cash or kind, because that is no more likely to happen than I am likely to jump over the moon. Repudiation is one part of the plan of warfare, and will bo strictly adhered to, and I fancy Mr. Bloodworth knows that as well as the Welfare League ot; myself. J. Thornes. 231, Parnell Road.
