THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.
STEADY BUSINESS CONTINUES.
A stoady volume of business was transacted on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Government securities remained weak, and 1937 5£ per cent. Bonds \yere released 15s easier at £96. More were available at the same figure.
Active. dealing took place in Bank of New, Zealands, sales taking place at the current price, 44s 3d, and again firmer at 44s 6d. The market closed at the lower price, which was offered for more. Commercials of Australia advanced 2d in a transaction at 13s 6d, and offers for Australians of Commerce were lifted 3d to 13s. Sellers again asked 16s. Unions were sought Is firmer at £6 9s 6d, but there were no sellers. Rates were firm in insurance for South British, which were again done at 50s 6d. Support for New Zealands was renewed on the previous day's basis, and was met with an advance of 3d in sellers' quotations. Inquiry for Westport Coals was partially satisfied -with a release 6d higher at 23s 6d. Offers of 23s were forthcoming for more, for which sellers asked 245. Auckland Gas were lowered a penny in a transaction at 235. Further inquiry at the same price was not met. Little movement was registered in other sections of the market. Unchanged rates were realised by Farmers' Fertilisers, which changed hands at 10s. Robinson's Ico Creams were marked down 2s 6d to sell at 16s 6d.
Dealing eased in mining and was confined to a single transaction in Cornish Points, which recovered to 7J>d. Inquiry for other lines was steady.
