SEPARATE EXISTENCE ENDS. ABSORBED BY SPECTATOR. (Received August 9, 7.13 pjn.) LONDON. August 8. The Saturday Review will be merged in the Spectator with next week's issue. Hie Saturday Review was established in 1855, as an independent weekly. It was not a newspaper, but printed reviews of all important occurrences, and of movements and works in art, literature and science. It had an outspoken tone, and many articles by experts and specialists on their subjects. The journal was founded bv Mr. Alexander Hope-Beresford, brother-in-law of _ths late Marquess of Salisbury—one of its early contributors—and has "had a long and influential career. The Spectator is more than 100 years old. It was acquired in 1926 by Mr. Evelyn Wrench.
