The first day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's August Meeting, which opens the Grand National carnival weetyof racing add trotting, was held at iddington to-day in fine weather, with a cold easterly wind. The course was in good order and the attendance was up to the standard of recent meetings. The totalisator handled £20,278, compared with £23.421 last year. Results:—
