RAILWAYS AND UNEMPLOYED.
Sir, —With so much unemployment about and important railway construction works stopped for lack of finance, it occurs to mc that a practical method of dealing with a portion of the problem would be to put relief workers on forming these railways, the co.st not to be charged up to the railways. All this' department would require to do would he to find the material and supervision. Under these conditions, important railway construction would probably bo resumed and tho people in the particular district would moro gladly pay their unemployment levy if they knew it was being spent on their particular railway. Huntly. W. C. Davies.
