HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. UNSETTLED, WITH SHOWERS. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—The high barometric pressure system is now moving off the Dominion, and passing eastward, while the new depression is approaching New Zealand from the west. Expect a change in conditions, cloudy to i overcast weather ruling, with showers de- ' veloping, especially in western areas, unsettled conditions gradually spreading to most, districts. Northerly to northwesterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening. Sea 3 moderate, although increasing somewhat southward from Capo Egmont. Local outlook: Unsettled, with showers. Milder temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30,35 in. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.35 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to mid night!— Maximum, SQdeg.; Minimum, 37 des. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A moderate depression has been crossing the Dominion to-day and is being followed by an extensive anti-cyclone. Indications are for moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds, freshening at times from Cook Strait southward' and backing to southerly ■ soon in the south and southerlies becoming fairly general within tho next 24 hours. Seas rather rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveanx Straits; elsewhere moderate. Moderate to strong west to south winds and rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather unsettled and changeable with scattered showers in most districts, lemperatures becoming cooler. RAINFALL RECORD.
