HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FAIR TO FINE. Tlio following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. IT. M. Vincent last evening:— Barometric pressure is still high oveV New Zealand, but a westerly depression is now moving across the southern Tasman Sea toward the Dominion. Expect a continuance of fair to fine weather generally, although with increasing cloudiness in western areas. Variable and moderate breezes, northerly prevailing. Seas smooth to moderate. Local outlook: Fair to fine. Very cold night, and frost. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 3G.55in. Midnight, Sunday .. .. ?0.351n. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 63cleg.; Minimum, 41 dog.
GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An anti-cyclone has been covering the Dominion since Sunday morning. A slight low pressure wave, the first of an intensive series, crossed the far southern districts to-day. Indications are for northerly to northwesterly winds, moderate generally, but freshening in and south of Cook Strait. Seas rising about Cook and Foveaux Straits, otherwise smooth to moderate. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with smooth to moderate but rising seas. The weather will be fair to fine in most districts, with some showers in West land and about Foveaux Strait. Mild temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD.
