SOUTHERN CROSS AT DARWIN. PASSENGERS ALSO CARRIED. (Received May 11, 11.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 11. Tho Southern Cross arrived at, Darwin at 2.45 p.m. to-day, with 15 bags of mail, and also some passengers. Air-Commodore Kingsford Smith describes Akyab as tho .worst place in the world, but the message does not state in what respect. He says Darwin is a paradise compared with either Akyab or Koepang. The Southern Cross and another aeroplane sent from Brisbane to pick up the overseas mails will start for Brisbane at daybreak.
