CROWN LAND AREAS.
INSPECTION BY MINISTER. SATISFACTORY DEVELOPMENT. [BY TKLEORAPir.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] EOTORUA, Monday. The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Lands, inspected the Crown areas, which are being developed by tho Government—the Ngakura blocks. 1 he. Minister expressed himself as well pleased with the result. In 15 months, ho said, the Agricultural Department had converted 1300 acres of unproductive waste land into very satisfactory grass land. A further area of 2500 acres has been cleared and one of over 800 acres has been prepared for sowing in the spring. A further area of 300 acres is also being dealt with. No. 1 block, of about 1200 acres, said the Minister, had responded to the treatment very well and the management and future disposal is now under consideration. It has already been decided to use one section as .1 demonstration farm. This has been subdivided and next, vear will he run as ic ordinary dairy farm to prove the* \;iltic for dairying purposes.
