DESERTIONS IN DON BASIN,
CONCILIATORY MEASURES. (Received March ID, 5.5 p.m.) Times Cable. LONDON, March 18. The Riga correspondent of the Times stnte3 that in spite of orders to- attach miners until tho completion of the fiveyears plan, deserters in tho Don Basin since January total 10,000. In consequence the. Ukranian Trades Union Council has ordered urgent measures to be taken, including a supply of bedstoads, visits by theatrical companies, and cinemas to amuso tho miners between tho drifts.
