PETROL ON FIRE.
RAILWAY YARDS ACCIDENT.
SHUNTER RECEIVES BURNS. \ The ignition of benzine. which had escaped from the petrol tank of a motorcar on a waggon in the railway yardsi laist evening resulted in severe burns to the arm being received by a shunter, Mr. C. Ryder, married, of 8, Western Spriings Rond. Mr. Ryder was engaged in uncoupling; two waggons when the escaped petrol caught alight. An explosion occurred and the car was soon on fire. As Mr. Ryder attempted to free himself from between the two waggons he fell and struck hiii head, causing a gash' which necessitated the insertion of stitches. He was taken by the St. John Ambulance to t!ha Auckland Hospital and after treatment W£is able to proceed to his home. 'The motor-car was damaged, but the efforts of the railway fire-fighting force mndie the assistance of the brigade unnecessary.
