PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION.
COURSE FOR STUDENTS. Advice that arrangements had been completed for lectures to be given' ttiis year at the University College in subjects for a diploma in public administration, was received by the City Council in a letter from the registrar of the University College last evening. In order to encourage students to take the courso, said the letter, the college had decided to make a rebate of 50 per .cent, of fees paid through a local authority, and suggested that the council should permit the fees of any members of its staff to be paid through its office in order to obtain the rebate. . V
It was also hoped that the various local authorities would encourage the proposal by giving all nTembers of their staffs some inducement to take up the study of subjects governing the general administration and principles of public 'affairs.
The council referred the matter to the finance committee for its report.
