CONSTABLE ASSAULTED.
SHIP'S FIREMAN FINED
A strip's fireman, John William Millam, aged 34, was charged in the Police Court on Saturday with assaulting Constable Johnston. John Charles, aged 43, also :i fireman, was charged with obstructing the saine constable in the lawful execu tiou of his duty. Both accused are members of the crew of the Tainui and did not appear in Court. Constable Johnston said that on Friday evening lie received complaints regarding the conduct of the two accused, who were intoxicated and causing general annoy ance to others. Millani was very abusive and struck witness, while Charles tried to prevent the arrest, of his companion. Both were subsequently taken into custody. Tlio magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, fined Charles £5, the amount of his bail. Mil lam was fined £4 10s and ordered to pay 10s expenses.
