MUNICIPAL ENTERTAINMENTS.
The usual municipal entertainments were held yesterday afternoon. A wellchosen selection of items was given bv the Municipal Band, under the baton of the bandmaster, Mr. (!. Buckley, in the Town Hall last evening. Perhaps the most appreciated number was Verdi's "11 Trovatore," which was given an artistic interpretation. Other compositions which wero skilfully presented were the Suite Espagnole "La Feria" by Lacomhe, and "William Tell" (Rossini). In the afternoon a recital of popular airs was given at the Zoological Park. At the organ recital in the Town Hall in the afternoon Mr. Maughan Barnett, the city organist, played Wolstenholme's "Concert Overture," the "Choral Preludes" by Bach, "Hero's Song" (Volkmann) and works by Mozart, Lemare and Lemmens.
