WORK AT PAEROA.

BRITISH KING IMPRESSES. TRACK IN GOOD ORDER. [FROM OTTIt OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAEROA, Thursday. Somo interesting track-work was carried out on the Paeroa course this morning. Tho course was in fairly good order, although on the hard side. Some rain had fallen overnight and took somo of the sting out of tho turf. The plough was in good order. Maori Boy and Lady's Boy ran six furlongs on the plough, the cup horse going really well, finishing a length in front of Lady's Boy in 1.19 4-5. London completed five furlongs well clear of Sweet Visions. Christobell (J. Smith) did a useful, two rounds at a solid pace and jumped four hurdles well. High Pitch (J. Smith) and Foxhound (Thompson) were r.ssociated over fivo furlongs on the plough. Both horses went freely, finishing together in 1.5 2-5. Joy Girl finished in front of Claremoro aflor going five furlongs on the outside of the courso proper. They were timed to go 1.4.

Sllvertown was restricted to steady work on the plough. This maiden shows promise. but is still very green. Production (Thompson), with Bronze Tray to bring her home over the Inst threo furlongs, covered five furlongs on the course proper in 1.3 1-5. Bronze Tray was slow to get going, but finished strongly to head Production on tho post. Hor limo for the threo furlongs was 38s.

British King did the best gallop of the morning by running four furlongs alone on tho plough in a tick over 50s. This was a good olfort and the chestnut finished full of running. 110 must bo given n good chance in tho open six furlongs on Saturday.

Hiata, with n light boy up, sprinted over fivo furlongs on the middle of tho course proper in 1.2 J. Tho big brown horse is looking well, but was slowing up at the end of tho fivo furlongs.

Slump (J. Smith) gave a satisfactory display over the steeplechase courso. He jumped all tho fences safely, but was not hurried. This horse was given a schooling lesson over the same courso early in the week with W. Rennie in tho saddle. British Princess was sprinted four furlongs. and others to work included Snow Princo, Master Lu and Dainty Manjiors. Momoanatui stretched out freely over five furlongs.

The course promises to bo in good condition for Saturday's races. The steeplechase course is in excellent order. Tho double jump in front of the stand has been improved by live hedges grown jit each hurdle. Tho latter are not very high, but the hedges look solid and horses which have schooled over them treat Ihcra with respect.
