HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— The area of high barometric pressure, enclosing a fine weather system, is now over New Zealand. Indications favortr chiefly fair to fine weather in most districts, although somewhat unsettled at times in places near the west coast, with scattered showers. Southerly to southwesterly winds, light to moderate. Seas moderate. Local outlook:—Fair to cloudy, with a tendency for an occasional shower. Cool temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.3!i!n, Midnight, "Wednesday .. .. 3Ci.391n, Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 76deg.; Minimum, 60deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A rather intense anti-cyclone is now moving on to New Zealand. The next depression from . the westward had this morning reached only as far as Adelaide. Indications are for moderate sonth-west to south-east winds. Seas in New Zealand waters smooth to moderate. Variable winds in the eastern Tn?man, with moderate southerlies prevailing at first, seas smooth to moderate. Some scattered showers in the Gisborne and East Cape districts and in the far north and south, but, mainly fair to fine. The weather is likely to be fine in most districts for several days.
