EVENTS AT WELLINGTON. BURTON'S GOOD PERFORMANCES. [jlY TELEOItAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Great riding by Burton was the outstanding feature of to-night's contests at the Kilbirnie Speedway. In the first heat of the Empire Big Four special race Burton covered four laps in 78 3-ss, lowering the previous fastest time made in the race by 2-ss. In the. fourth race of the series he lowered this record, covering the distance in 78s. and cutting Is off Frank Penrce's lime. Tonis was the most successful local rider, winning the Empire Big Four match and coming second in the Tasman Invitation Race, in which he was beaten bv Biirlon. Liicchcsi heal Higgins for the Silver Gauntlet. Details of the racing are:— Southern Cross Junior Handicap.— ITururer, 1; Phillips, 2; Navlor, 3. Time, 80 1 -ss.
