LAUNCH MISTAKES ENTRANCE
RUN UP ON A BEACH
A launch party of Wellington residents, including a number of women, had an unenviable experience in tho heavy galo a few flays ago. Tho vessel had been cruising in tho Sounds, and left early on Saturday morn-
ing for Wellington; heavy seas were encountered in Cook Strait, and visibility was so bad that Palliser Bay was mistaken for the entrance to Wellington Harbour. The little vessel was'receiving a severe battering, and to inako matters worse, tho benzine was running low. The only course left was to run her up on Lake Ferry beach. This was done successfully, and the passengers returned lo Wellington by car. The launch's tanks were later refilled and she was refloated and returned to Wellington.
