THE PIRATE SHIP.
One. of the most successful functions vet held on board tho Pirate Ship at Milford took place on Wednesday evening, when some hundreds of dancers were present to see the old year out and the new year in. Favours and streamers, balloons and hats, were some of tho novelties distributed among the dancers, and at 12 o'clock tho singing of "Old Lang Syne" announced the last of the bid year. Dancing took place, until a late hour, the Pirate Ship orchestra, playing old and new dance numbers.
Among those present were:—Mrs. Melton (Christchurch), who wore a frock of delphinium blue georgette studded with rhinestones; Mrs. Edgar Bartleet, lemon flowered chiffon; Mrs. Rollo, cameo pink chiffon; Mrs. D. Stuart, mist-blue georgette with diamante trimming; Mrs. K. Fraser, white souple satin; Mrs. Wilkins, black georgette undkr bia.;k embroidered wrap; Mrs. Goldwater, bkek georgette; Mrs. Chalmers, eau do nil georgette with shawl; Mrs.. Mellor, checked taffeta; Mrs. Ray Nettleton, green georgette, with rhinestones; Mrs. Neville, floral chiffon; Mrs. C. Ivil, gold lame and black tulle; Miss Meg Simpson flame ring velvet aid georgette frills; Miss Pauline Brooker (Rotorua), sea-green - frilled tulle o'er ss-.tin; Miss Skeates, vieux rose georgette; Miss Cora Clarke, white georgette; Miss I. Smallbone, ivory ripple ninon; Miss Nina Wallace, blue shaded floral ninon; Miss Ruth Nettleton, ravenswing blue satin beaute; Miss Lois Scott, Nile green satin and georgette; Miss M. Trent (Christchurch), black laca with touches of green; Miss Gwen Kendrick, ivory crepe soie; Miss Barbara Corrie (Hawcra), scarlet satin; Miss 0. Robinson, gold floral georgette; Miss McLachlan, phlox pink taffeta; Miss M. Simonds, shaded pink floral ninon with pink shoulder flower; Miss S. Fx-ater, printcmps green printed georgette; Miss Maida Mclndoe, flesh-pink taffeta; Miss M. Moulton, floral ninon in shades of apricot; Miss Phyllis Alison, green and ' white satin juniper suit; Miss Eileen - Brodie, blue georgette over pink; Miss Doreen Clark, flowered organdie; Miss Violet Clarkso'n, sea-green georgette with gold embroideries.
