MEETING ENDS TO-DAY.

ROYAL STAKES CONTEST.

FINE FIELD ENGAGED. THE GRANDSTAND HANDICAP. REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS. The Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be concluded at Ellevslia today, when another interesting programme of events will bo decided. The various events have all filled well and some keen contests should eventuate. There is a- fine field of eighteen in the Grandstand Handicap, tho loading handicap event, and this is bound to be a good race. Tho Royal Stakes will provide another meeting of the best two-year-olds, who will bo opposed by several smart three-year-olds, while tho Clifford.. Plato will probably provide an interesting contest between Nightmarch, Hunting Cry and Pegaway. Tho following is tho list of acceptances, with a review of the fields by lt Archer :

The top-weights. Goshawk. Eaglet and Vertigern, are all likely to make showings, while others worthy of consideration are Grand Tea. Love Song, Ti Tree and Tenakoe. It should be a good betting race and investors may favour LOVE SONG, TENAKOE, TI TREE. 12.32. —SYLVIA HANDICAP. _ Of £SOO.- two-year-olds; 6 fur. et. lb. st. lb. Baroscope ..90 Brazanna ... 7 3 Royal Artist . 8 10 Speedfast ... 7 1 Frincesa Bedo 8 8 Fedora .... 7 1 Persham ... 8 6 Speedmint ..70 Limeen .... 8 1 Exaggeration . 7 0 Capo Gol<J ..79 Form suggests Persham and Baroscope as lfkely to run prominently and others with chances are Princess Bede, Royal Artist and Cape Gold. The favourites may be PERSHAM. BAROSCOPEPRINCESS BEDE Bracket. ROYAL ARTIST.

If started, Hunting Cry will have to be respected, but he may possibly tackle the Clifford Plato in preference. Corinax reads as well ns any of tho others above 8.0, as he is improving with racing. There are many possibilities lower clown, and some likely ones are My Own, Eager Rose. Goshawk, Mosque, Count Palatine and Jaloux. Somo who may find favour are CORINAX, MOSQUE. MY OWN. 2.7 —AUCKLAND HURDLE RACE, Of £5O0; 2 miles. st. lb. st. lb. Claremoro . . 11 13 Absdnt .... 0 2 Luminary . . II 6 Dark Prince . 9 1 Star Comet . . 11 1 Day Lass ... 9 0 Master Lu . . 10 1 Kairuri ... 9 0 St. Ame3 ... 9 12 "Wako King . 9 0 Maskoor . . . 9 ti Luminary's second to Mister Gamp yesterday was a good one and ki3 prospects look rosy in this moderate field. Hi 3 chief danger may come from Claremore, Star Comet and Absent. Tho popular fancies may be LUMINARY. ABSENT, CLAREMORE. 2.S2—ROYAL STAKES, Of £750; two and three-year-olds; special weights; 6 fur. st. lb. st. lb. Karapoti . •< 9 10 Ammon Ra . . 7 13 Awaken .... 9 0 La Poupee . , 7 13 Praiso .... 9 0 Aspian .... 7 6 Royal Ruler . 9 0 Baroscopo . . 7 6 Courtesy ... Sll Chief Cook ..76 Ukley 8 4 Limeen ... 7 3 Movie Star ..82 Princess Bedo 7 3 Hunt tho Oratorian ... 6 13 Slipper ... 7 13 Gay Court . . 6 13 It is very unlikely that Karapoti will run. Ammon Ra is nicely placed and should bo handy at the finish, as ho should have benefited by his run on the first day. Hunt the Slipper, Movie Star and La Poupee should also bo capable of good efforts an<: tho likeliest of tho others may be Praiso and Oratorian. In a good betting raco tho favourites may bo AMMON RA. LA POUPEE, PRAISE.

3.32—CLIFFORD PLATE, Of £500; weight-for-ago; li miles. at. lb. at. lb, Nightmarch . 9 3 Concentrate ..93 Pegaway . . » 9 3 Hunting Cry . 9 0 Toxeuma . . » s 9 3 Lady Pam . » 7 13 As Hunting Cry and Lady Pam are in tho Grandstand Handicap also, there is a possibility that tho Clifford Plato may ultimately bo a one-dividend field. Form at tho meeting says most for tho chances of Hunting Cry and Pegaway, but it is on the cards that Nightmarch may do better hero than in his previous outings. The race is a difficult one. but investors may follow form and support HUNTING CRY, PEGAWAY.

The draw for post positions will bo an important factor, as there is no doubt that tho inside positions are a decided advantage. Lcitrim, Great Star and Cold Money are the form horses, but Hunting Day, Tenterden and Hava3pot may all be dangerous. There may be strong support for LEITRIM, HUNTING DAY, TENTERDEN.

Tobacco Land and Gold Day appear to be the best of the top-weights, whilo Appledore, Loving Cup, Stonehenge, Lucky Alice, Rafflight and Gay Idea may be the pick of the others. Good support may bo entrusted to GOLD DAY. TOBACCO LAND, LUCKY ALICE. SEVEN FURLONGS RECORD. TENAKOE BEATS REFRESHER.

An exciting finish in tho Glasgow Handicap saw Tenakoe, who wan making his first appearance at the meeting, Bcore narrowly in the course record time of lm 25s for seveji furlongs. It was a fine betting race, and the favourites were Refresher, Maori Boy and Tenakoe. Prince Val and Refresher were quickly in the lead and they set a cracking pace, with Cynthia. N., Tenakoe, Sir Mond and Llanore following. Prince Val and Refresher were still together entering tho straight, and wero closely followed by Cynthia N., Tenakoe, Llanoro, Sir Mond and Maori Boy. Once in line for tho post Refresher had tho measuro of PrincoiVal, but he was immediately challenged by Tenakoe, who camo on, to win by half a length. Sir Mond was a neck away third and High Pitch was fourth. Then camo Maori Boy, Cynthia N., Llanore and Royal Tea. Tenakoe finished on well and so did Refreßhor, who would probably havo won if Princo Val had not carried him along so fast in tho first five furlongs. Tho pace cracked up Princo Val, and he finished near the rear. Sir Mond and High Pitch, both camo on solidly. LOVING CUP'S WIN. EARLY ADVANTAGE TELLS. All started in the Ellerslie Handicap and Clopton waß made a pronounced favourite over Arrowzone. Stonehengo and Loving Cup also being well backc-d. Loving Cup began quickly and was 60on out a couple of lengths from Arrowzone and Clopton, with Smithfield and Stonehengo following. There was very slight alteration in this order until they reached the homo turn, whero Stonehengo and Brampton moved up. Inside tho distance Loving Cup appeared to bo tiring, but he stayed on to beat Stonehenge by half a length. Brampton was a neck away third and Arrowzone fourth. Next came Bizarro, Smithfield and Clopton. Loving Cup gained a nice advantage early and hung on well when challenged at the finish, registering easily his best performance to date. Stonehengo and Brampton both camo homo solidly, but Clopton and Arrowzone weakened at tho end after going well to tho turn. TRANSFER OF HAVERING. TO BE TRAINED AT TAKININI. Tho Quin Abbey gelding Havering, owned by Mr. J. M. Corcoran, of Ha.wera, and lately trained by him, has been brought to Auckland and has entered J. Gray's stable at Takanini. THAMES JOCKEY CLUB.
