OVERSEAS TRAVELLERS.

FOR AUCKLAND. LARGE EXCESS OF ARRIVALS. The records of the Customs Department, of the arrivals and departures through the, port of Auckland during tho year 1930 show that a total of 15,536 landed at Auckland and 12/106 sailed from here. The excess of arrivals over departures was. therefore, 5130 In 1929, when 15,842 arrived and 13,734 departed, the, excess of arrivals was 2108. A great deal of the excess this year is accounted for by the figures for December, when 2128 came in and only 827 left. In December of 1929 2639 camo in and 1261 took their de parture. Of tho persons who arrived here last month by far the greater number came from Australia as their last, place of call. The'figures were 1406 from Australia, 454 from the United Kingdom, 145 from Canada, 119 from Pacific Islands and four from tho United States. Of the outward passengers 609 left, for Australia, 98 for Canada, 69 for Britain, 47 for Pacific islands arid four for tho United States.
