FEDERAL RESTRICTIONS. NOTICE TO GOVERNMENTS. CANBEB.RA, Dec. 31. Restriction on all nlien immigration until tho country's economic position liar? improved sufficiently to warrant tho lifting of the ban has been decided upon by the Federal Ministry. Tho Minister of ILSmo Affairs, Mr. A. Blakely, has notified tho various Governments and shipping companies interested that becauso of tho extraordinary economic conditions and widespread unemployment it is undesirable that facilities bo given to immigrants to come to Australia either with the intention of sottling here or seoking woik. Tho Minister explained that tho Government's object is to prevent unrestricted immigration of aliens seeking employment to the detriment of Australian workmen. Tourists and bona fide business men, of course, are not; affected.
