MOTOR SPEED RECORD.
CAMPBELL'S CAR ASSEMBLED. SPECIAL ENGINE AND BODY. British Wireless. RUGBY, Dec. <SO. In the last few days mechanics have made a trial assembly of the car in which Captain Malcolm Campbell will attack at Daytona Beach, the late Sir Henry Segrave's speed record. It has 20 cylinders, and an engine of 1400 horse-power. Although twice as powerful as an express railway engine, it is only five feet long and three feet wide. The engine was designed originally for the Napier seaplane in tho Schneider Cup race. Tho special permission of tho Air Ministry has been obtained for its uso. A series of experiments on streamlining, carried out by models in a wind tunnel, preceded the construction of (ho chassis and body. Resistanco has been reduced to a minimum. Captain Campbell hopes to reach a speed of more than four miles a minute.
