IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
TIMES ON PERSONALITIES. GOVERNMENT'S CREDIT SHAKEN. (Received November 17. 10.5 p.m.) Times Cable. LONDON", Nov. 17. The Times remarks that although Mr. J. H. Scullin, Prime Minister of Australia, was hampered at the Imperial Conference by the situation in the Commonwealth he rendered notable service as a mediator, especially in the closing stages. The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. G. W. Forbes, was universally popular, says the paper. It adds that Mr. J. H. Thomas, Secretary of State for the Dominions, may be credited with having supported the Prime Minister, Mr. MacDonald, in the final struggle to save whatever could be saved from the wreck of so many hopes. The Government had emerged from the conference shaken in credit.
