CHASE OVER ROOFTOPS.
SEQUEL IN POLICE COURT. CHARGE AGAINST INDIAN. (BY TELEGRAPH. —I'RESS ASSOCIATION. J PAT/MERSTON NORTH, Monrlny. The sequel to a chase after a young Indian across roofs and along a street yesterday afternoon was the appearance in tlio Police Court to-day of Chhagah lihara, fruiterer, charged with entering by day the premises of Collinson and Cunningham and stealing goods valued at £34; also with breaking and entering by night, the premises of Messrs. McAffcr and taking a suit, of clothes and a pair of trousers valued at £\2 10s. Accused was remanded until Friday next. It was stated that while engaged in an upstairs office of the New Zealand Importing Compa.ny yesterday afternoon Mr. W. H. Drown saw a man on the roof of the adjoining premises, and pursued him over the roofs. Although hampered with a heavy travelling trunk, the man proceeded in a daring manner along the parapet and finally dropped to the street, but was chased and captured at the. corner of Kangitikei and King Streets.
