FRENCH AIRSHIP CRASHES.
GAS CAUSES EXPLOSION. CRAFT BADLY DAMAGED. CREW OF EIGHT MEN SAFE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received November 18. 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, Nov. 15. The French naval airship VlO, which was sent out last, night to seek the German flying-boat Do. X bocauso sho had not answered wireless signals, crashed near her baso at Rochefort early this morning. Following upon a heavy escape of gas an explosion occurred. The crew of eight men wore saved owing to the pilot's presence of mind in shutting off the engines and by throwing overboard as much as possible in order to delay the fall.
The airship hit the ground with sucn force that sho became a tangled mass of metal and fabric.
