CHILD POISONED.

GIN TAKEN FROM CUP. SMALL QUANTITY CONSUMED. DEATH FOLLOWS IN HOSPITAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Sunday. Tragic circumstances attended the death to-day of Arthur Douglas Ferguson, aged 4 years, the son of Mr. George Ferguson, of Killarney Road, Frankton. At 5.30 this morning the child went into a room and drank two tablespoonfuls of gin, which had been left in a cup on a chair. He played about until 8.30 a.m. and then went to sleep. Two hours later the parents became alarmed at the child's condition and called Dr. F. A. Lamb,

who immediately took the boy to the Waikato Hospital. There the child died at 5.30 p.m.

At an inquest held before the coroner. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., this evening, a verdict of death from alcoholic poisouing was returned.
