BOISTEROUS WEATHER.

SQUALLS AND HEAVY RAIN. HARBOUR CRAFT CAPSIZED. Boisterous and wet weather was experienced in Auckland during most of the week-end, tho conditions improving yesterday afternoon. On Saturday heavy showers fell during the afternoon and evening, the wind blowing in heavy squalls at times. In the early hours of yesterday morning tho conditions were stormy, the squalls being very severe and reaching gale force, accompanied by thunder and lightning. The boisterous conditions continued until midday, when the wind moderated considerably, the afternoon and evening being fine. A four-oared skiff capsized off Mechanics' Bay shortly before 11 o'clock yesterday morning and tho occupants, four men and a boy, were thrown into the water. The vehicular ferry steamer Mollyhawk and the fishing launch AK 2148 were near and the crew of the skiff was soon rescued. Afterwards the capsized skiff was towed to the shore by the fishing launch.

Very boisterous weather conditions prevailed on the Manukau on Saturday on the occasion of the opening of the yachting season. The wind quickly changed from a fresh northerly to a heavy westerly, accompanied by a blinding squall, and two 14-footers, the Janet and Mistmaid, capsized. The crews were promptly rescued. The barometer registered 29.65 in. early on Saturday morning, but it rose afterwards, and the reading last night was 29.95 in. HEAVY RAIN AT HAMILTON. THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Sunday. An exceptionally heavy rain squall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, was experienced in Hamilton shortly after noon yesterday. The flood-waters overflowed the footpath in Victoria Street. Several exceptionally heavy showers fell later in tho afternoon.
