A SMALL CHRISTMAS GIFT.

I'll is little lavender bag is really handy to keep among your handkerchiefs. It can he made from any scraps of silk or cotton material. Take a piece about square and stitch a narrow hem round the edge. An edging of crochet or a buttonhole stitch can be used in place of the hern. Then if the material being used is plain take a contrasting shade of cotton and do a little fine needle-

work in tlie corners. Now take a double thread of cotton and stitch arouud, as shown in figure Figure 3. Instead of the needlework in the corners a few bright beads are pretty for a change. When yon have the thread in place, gather it slightly, place a teaspoonful of lavender inside, and pull the threads in tight. The bag is complete when the threads have been fastened off. —From Elsie Waring, D.M.8.G., Manurewa.
