Tho gathering was marked by many notably pleasant points. First, tho club was honoured by tho presence of Their Excellencies tho Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe, who, accompanied by Lieutenant .T. Elworthy, R.N., were received by Mr. If. A. Knight, chairman, Mrs. Knight and officials of tho club. Then thorp were present many visitors to tho city, including several prominent North Island residents, whilo an unusually largo number of Canterbury people, who have recently returned from trips abroad, wero being warmly -welcomed by their friends.

Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe, who presented llio gold cup to Mr. A. Louisson, the proud.owner of Nightmarch, wore a vivid limo green ensemble, tho satin frock having a collar of vellum-tinted lace, whilo the tailored cloth coat had an upstanding collar and deep cuffs of beige fur. Her felt hat, with brim upturned in. front, was caught with a buckle of brilliants, and her umbrella was of a deeper shade of green.
