YESTERDAY'S WEATHER.
CONDITIONS IN SOUTH. -Auckland.—Following a morning of unsettled weather yesterday the afternoon showed an improvement. The wind was moderate from the west. The barometer rose steadily during the evening, the reading at midnight being 29.70 inches. Wellington.—The-' weather was very changeable yesterday. After early morning showers the sky cleared and tha day was tine until 3.35 o'clock, when a heavy rain squall came up from the south. However, this cleared quickly and the evening was fine. Christchurch. —The weather was fine but overcast yesterday until late in flto afternoon, when the sun broke through the clouds and the sky cleared. Tha wind was strong from the south-west and was somewhat cold, the maximum temperature being 53 degrees. Iho barometer was rising and the reading in the evening was 29.45 in. Duncdin. —Following heavy rain early in the morning the weather was fine yesterday during the remainder of the day, with more cloud than sunslAne, and a. light wind from the south-west. Tli« maximum temperature was 66 degrees. The barometer, which had been very low for two days, showed a rising tendency, the reading in the evening be-in; 29.35 in.
