HUNTLY STAND-BY PLANT.
PROPOSAL NOT ABANDONED. [by telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. In a letter received to-day by the Central Power Board the Minister „ol Public Works, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, stated that although the position regarding the supply of electrical power in tho Auckland Province was reasonably secure, there was no intention on tho part of the Government- to abandon the. proposal to erect an adequate stand-by plant. The . letter was a reply to a request made by the board, to know whether the Government intended to proceed with the proposal to erect, a steam generating plant, removed from Waihi, at Huntly. The plant will have a capacity of 15.000 kw.
