THE CANCER CAMPAIGN.
SCHEME TO RAISE FUNDS.
MOVEMENT IN AUCKLAND'. ' * A proposal is believed to be on foot for the holding of an art union to assist in- raising funds in fid of the cancer campaign. It is understood such a scheme was discussed at a recent meeting of llie New Zealand Cancer Research Committee in Wellington. Auckland and 01 ago are said to have favoured making an application for an art union permit, but Wellington and Canterbury opposed the suggestion, which was vetoed. However, there is a prospect of this decision being reconsidered at a 'further meeting to be -held in Dunedin on December 10. It is understood the granting of ji permit to hold an art union has been tentatively approved in the caso of an application made by the Otago Expansion League and it is > believed possible that this permit, if finally approved, may be applied to a national art union for the benefit of the cancer fund. Matters in connection with 1 lie Auckland district's campaign for funds were discussed between the Minister of Health, Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, and the local committee this week. The Minister said yesterday that bis assistance had been sought in connection with a certain aspect of the campaign and he had promised his co-operation.
