THEFT OF BICYCLE.
YOUTH TO PAY £5 FINE. COMMENT BY JUSTICES. [nT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.J THAMES. Wednesday, Remarking that thefts of bicycles were becoming too common, Messrs. W. Bongard and J. W Dan by, J.P.'s, fined Willie Wade, a half-caste Maori youth, £5 and costs for the theft of a bicycle. Tho police stated in Court that the bicycle was missed on October 30, and was discovered in accused's possession. He first denied that ho had been using it, but it was found that he had changed a tyre and altered the appearance of the bicycle. Wade pleaded guilty. He said he had taken the bicycle from in front of a business place, and as no one protested he kept it. Tho Bench ordered that the damage bo mado good. Default of payment of the fine of £5 was fixed at 14 days' imprisonment.
