WATERSIDE DISPUTE.
PORT ADELAIDE UNREST. POLICE CHARGE A CROWD. ADELAIDE, August 2!). More disturbances occurred to-day on (ho waterfront at Port Adelaide.
A crowd of unemployed men was charged by the police with drawn batons. Volunteer workers are being closely guarded. The South Australian branch of tho Carters and Drivers' Union has decided to call a general strike, excluding milk cart drivers. The trouble has reference to the waterside dispute.
The Premier, Mr. L. L. Hill, stated today that if negotiations are not reopened between the. shipowners and the watersiiler workers the (lovernment will take action to settle the dispute about volunteer labour.
