On the day of the Pugby match between Britain and Canterbury, the Selwyn County Council set a speed trap on tho Main South Road at Dunsandel, when 187 motorists were timed as having speeded. The first prosecution was taken before Mr. H. A. Voting, S.M., at Leeston todav. Iwo other cases were withdrawn.
'Hie trap was over a distatfe of chains, in which there were various intersections and three warning notices regarding speed. It was alleged in the case heard to-day that the defendant drove over the distance at a speed exceeding 50 miles an hour.
