WATCH THE CHILDREN'S EYES.

From babyhood the eyes can give considerable trouble. Since they aro the most easily upset of all the organs of tho body, and perhaps as important as any other, it is as well to know how to care for them. Even in a young child twitching of the eyes and nervous grimaces mean that an oculist should be visited. Very often an early visit means that a. child has to wear glasses for a year, and then needs them no longer. When a child's eyes aro red-lidded and discharge during the night, there aro two things to do. Whon he is asleep smear tho lashes with olive oil. Use a little spill of paper for this purpose; it will not hurt him if he wakens while you aro doing it, whereas a glass medicine dropper might bo dangerous. The oil will prevent the lids sticking together. Next day batho tho eyes with the following solution: A tumblerful of warm water, half a teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda, and half a teaspoonful of common salt. This solution is as near as possiblo to tears, which aro provided by Nature to moisten and cleanse the eyes. Uso a different piece of cotton wool for each eye, and destroy after use. Batho tho eyes night and morning. Older people can use an cye-glnss with the " tear" solution in it, but children cannot manage it. Whon a sty conies get someone to examino your eye carefully, and pull out the eyelash at tho heart of the gathering. This will usually make the sty break. Batho it with boracic solution, and, if you have time, apply boracic solution on a piece of lint and lio for 10 minutes with it on your closed eye. Remember that a sty is a sign that you aro run down. You will get another if you do not take a tonic.
