ARE YOU WELL-DRESSED?
j Every typo of dress has its proper accessories. To know " what to wear / with what," is half the battle of good dressing and of dress economy. Now what you should wear with sports clothes (tweeds) are:— Shoes.—Strap brogues or lace-ups, with low or medium heel. Stockings.—Lisle or silk-and-wool. Hat.—Soft pull-on in felt or tweed, or / , beret. I Bag.—Tailored leather, or tweed. Neckwear. —Fine wool or washing silk ecarf. .' Jewellery.—None (as a rule). / Gloves. —Pull-on shape, in hard wearing leathers Handkerchiefs. —Man size, iri coloured Bilk or linen. V Brown shoes are the best for sports, country and travel. Have Cuban or military heels, if flat ones don't suit your foot. Sports scarves should have / smart modernist patterns, not floral ones. The " no-jewellery" rule doesn't apply to watcli-bracelets, clips and brooches, to hold things in place, a , favourite ring you always wear and SDorts jewellery in wood, etc., though tfiis should be worn with great discretion. Furs are best limited to hard-wearing fur or fur-lined coats for driving, though leather is the best all-weather wear. The perfect colours for sports wear are those which melt into a natural background—- , that's why tweeds aro so good. The term " sports clothes" can now be taken to include everything suitable for country wear and travelling. For summer sports clothes (washing Bilks, etc.): — Shoes.—White-and-tan summer shoes, plaited sandals. Stockings.—Chiffon lisle in sunburn tones. Hat.—Shady country straws. Berets. No hat when possible. Bag.—Striped linen, straw, or raffia.
