LEAVING YOUTH BEHIND.
RESOLUTENESS OF MIND. Middle age is often a time of mental restlessness and dissatisfaction. It is a shock to many a woman to realise that youth is behind her, and that only the dull-lined years aro ahead. A certain resoluteness of mind is requisite to see middle age in the proper light. Only too often morbid " introspection " leads to irritability and depression, or to a pathetic striving after one's lost youth. It is necessary to realise that the passing of youth is Nature's law, and that each succeeding age has its charm. Is not autumn as delightful as spring ? It is a different beauty, that is all. Do not strive after an appearance unnatural to your years, but make the most of the charms which are becoming to your time of life. Age, after all, is an affair of the mind. No matter what your age may be, if you feel young, you are young. No woman of forty need be old these days.
