HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT.

PUKEKOHE ENTERTAINMENT. Pupils and ex-pupils of the Pukekohe Technical High School gave a delightful entertainment in tho Strand Iheatre, Pukekohe, on Thursday evening. It took tho form of tho school's annual conceit, and tho theatre proved hardly largo enough to accommodato tho largo audionco, which numbered some 800 people. Many former pupils from a wide district were present. The school choir, of 110 voices, under tho conductorship of tho principal, Mr. W. F. J. Munro, acquitted itself admirably in the rendering of well-known vocal selections, of which perhaps " Tho Dear Little Shamrock," " Como to tho *? ir \ " Swanee" and "Tho Toymaker s Dream " gave tho most pleasure. In a topical composition " Arapuni," sung to tho tune of Ciementiue," and in the school song, which is set to the tune of " The March of tho. Men of Harlech, tho young voices blended in particularly rousing melody. A one-act play U.bo Boy Conies Homo," a comedy-drama of a voung ex-officer's entry into business on demobilisation after the war, was well presented by a cast comprising Masters A Franklin and C. Jenkins and Misses E. Goodison, M. Osborno and J. McGregor. Appearing as an Indian magician, Master G. Burrows demonstrated how audiences are mystified. Imitating a marvellously strong man, Master cave a grotesquely humorous exhibition of " prodigious " weight-lifting. Costume songs and choruses given with charming rhythm were rendered by girls of tho school, " Honey," by Misses Z White, D Bowden, M. Markwick, M. Pratt, O. Frost, S. Snell, J. Mack, A. Bowden and M. Young, •" Mexicali Rose, by Misses ,T. Moselen, E. Goodison, G. Huckstcp, S. Mclvinney, F. Addy and M. Markwick and "E Pari Rau," by Misses Jean Harper, A. Burgess, E. Harper, R. Short, G. Leo and D. Luke. Other items in the programme, all ot which were excellently rendered, comprised a humorous action monologue by Master E Moncrief, recitation by Miss N. Snell, pianoforte solos by Misses A. Bowden, \\. Scott and D. Hughson, violin solo by Master W. Taylor, song by Mr. C. .Tames, folk dances by Misses B. Ear and P.
