HOWICK TENNIS CLUB.
ANNUAL DANCE. The Howick Tennis Club held its annual ball in the public hall on Thursday evening. Tho walls were lined with ferns and nikau palms, and a decorative scheme, carried out with tho club colours of blue and white, with flags, balloons and spring flowers, was very effective. Special attention had been paid to the lighting effects. Tho function was a great buccess, and was attended by a large number of visitors from neighbouring clubs. Music was supplied by tho Carnival Five Jazz Dance Band. Messrs. 11. F. Newton and R. Beckett were in charge of floor arrangements. Extras were played by Miss D. Roberts and Mr. K. Stone. Among thoso present were:—Mrs. E. G. Hallett, who wore black moire with diamante trimming; Mrs. R. Paton, lime taffeta and pink shoulder posy; Mrs. S. Bowden, black lace over georgette; Mrs. 11. Sunderland (Wellington), black taffeta and net; Mrs. Liggins, black fisher net; Mrs. Hamilton, bluo crepe de chine; Mrs. R. Ilattaway, mauve crepo satin; Mrs. 11. Roberts, black georgette, relieved with fawn lace; Miss D. Beckett, forget-me-not bluo satin beaute and Spanish shawl; Mis 3 K. Newton, sea green taffeta and shoulder posy; Miss 11. Cameron, white georgette, dipping at the back, and shirred bodice; Miss D. Roberts, beige georgette heavily sequinned;. Miss S. Roberts, royal blue georgette; Miss P. Hallett, apricot satin and shoulder spray of camellias; Miss E. Hallett, ankle-length peach georgette with pale green relief; Miss Iris Mills, floral crepe de chine; Miss M. White, lemon crepe do chine; Miss M. Roberts, blue crepe do chine with gold lace and Oriental coatee; Miss M. Devereaux, beige crepo do chine; Miss Iris Ryan, black frilled georgette frock with diamante relief; Miss J. Bull, blue crepe de chine; Miss A. Lucas, silver and black georgette; Miss M. McLeod, wine chiffon velvet; Miss A. Connelly, black georgette with shoulder spray; Miss M. Wyman, red crepo do chine; Miss P. Ledez, fuchsia ring velvet and georgette.
